Nationalmuseum (The National Gallery of Sweden) 2016
Designer and concept developer.
Our source of inspiration when coming up with Nationalmuseum Stories was one of our group members old art teachers from high-school, called Mats. He had the ability to speak about a stilleben of a fruitbowl and make it interesting, so we went to see him to record some material for the prototype podcast.
Develop a digital solution that would activate and attract a larger audience to the engage with the content in the collections and to create a higher value; in any way we wanted.
We saw the biggest threshold why younger people didn't visit art museums is because it's hard to understand the art when there's no story behind it at your engagement level.
Our goal was to give every visitor access to the stories behind the art through deep and passionate storytelling, both off and on-site. Together with 5 other students from Hyper Island, we created Nationalmuseum Stories - an episodical audio format revolving around art, culture and history. The basic concept includes 5 episodes created and read by passionate storytellers such as that overly enthusiastic art teacher you might have had in high school (I hope you did).
